Workspace VMs are not exposed directly to the public internet. Access to RDP, Code Server, and other Workspace apps goes through Tailscale. This lets you reach the VM through a private network without exposing individual ports publicly.
When do you need Tailscale?
You need Tailscale whenever you want to connect to the Workspace VM:
- Open the RDP desktop
- Use Workspace apps in the browser
- Reach Code Server or other local services on the VM
Install Tailscale
Choose the guide for your device:
Alternatively, use the Tailscale download page for your operating system.
Connect to the Workspace network
After signing in, run the Workspace command shown in the Application Platform connection dialog:
tailscale login --login-server=https://headscale.doppelt-digital.com
After that, your computer can resolve and reach Workspace hostnames.
Connect afterwards
Open the Workspace dialog in the Application Platform again. From there, download the RDP file or open Workspace apps such as Code Server.
If the connection does not work, first check whether Tailscale is connected and whether you ran the login command for the Workspace network.
