Buy a domain

What to look for when buying a domain so it works with the platform.

On this page

The Application Platform does not sell domains itself – you buy one from a domain registrar of your choice and then connect it to your project.

Choosing a provider

Common registrars include IONOS, Hetzner, Cloudflare, Namecheap, or your existing web host. Only one thing really matters:

Warning
You need full access to the domain’s DNS zone – i.e. the ability to create your own A and CNAME records. A pure redirect feature is not enough.

When buying

  1. Check the domain name: short, memorable, ideally without hyphens and special characters.
  2. Choose the ending: .de, .com, or any other TLD – technically all are compatible with the platform.
  3. Test the DNS management: after the purchase you should be able to open the domain’s DNS zone in the customer area and edit records.

After the purchase

  1. Enter the domain when creating or editing your project in the platform (e.g. as the prod domain of your web app or homepage).
  2. The platform shows you the required DNS records in the Domains section.
  3. Apply the values at the registrar – step by step in Configure DNS.
