RDP is the standard way to use the graphical Ubuntu desktop environment of your workspace.

Prerequisites

  • Your computer is connected with Tailscale for Workspace VMs.
  • On the workspace start page in the Application Platform you will find hostname, RDP port, username, and optionally a downloadable RDP file.

Install an RDP client

Recommended clients by platform:

Windows

macOS

Linux

  • Remmina (recommended) – via your distribution’s package manager, e.g. sudo apt install remmina
  • Alternative: FreeRDP (xfreerdp) for the command line

Connect

  1. Open your RDP client.
  2. Connect using the hostname and port from the workspace start page.
  3. Sign in with the displayed RDP user.

Alternatively, download an RDP file from the Application Platform and open it directly.

After login, prepared project folders are available in the workspace user’s home directory.

Alternative: VNC

If your organization provides VNC or you prefer a VNC client, see Desktop via VNC.
